He was educated in the UK at the University of East Anglia and the John Innes Institute. He Post doctored around the world for 10 years before starting work as a clinical embryologist in 1987. He has worked for 8 IVF units (5 as scientific director, including Sydney IVF and Monash IVF).

He was involved in the team that achieved the first ICSI birth in Australia (1995) and started day 5 single embryo transfer in 1998. He has been an independent IVF consultant for the past 9 years working throughout south-east Asia.
He has also worked as a laboratory auditor for the Reproductive Technologies Accreditation Committee (RTAC) for the past 15 years.

He holds an adjunct senior lecturers’ position at the department of obstetrics and gynaecology of Monash University for the Masters course in Clinical Embryology.
