Professor Maria Antonia E. Habana completed her Doctor of Medicine and Master of Science in Epidemiology (Clinical Epidemiology), from the University of the Philippines. She took her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Philippine General Hospital and became Chief Resident. She had training in gynecologic endoscopy at the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and postdoctoral fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the Yale School of Medicine, Connecticut.

She is presently a Full Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of the Philippines where she is also a University Scientist 1.

Professor Habana is a published author and serves as editor of the Philippine Journal of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Associate Editor of Fertility and Reproduction and the Philippine Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

She is presently the President of the Philippine Society for Gynecologic Endoscopy and was a past President of the Philippine Society for Reproductive Medicine.
